classic cocktails

Martini
prairie vodka, dry vermouth
Martini is derived from the use of Martini Rosso dry vermouth in 1863. Legend has it that a bartender needed a name for a quick drink mixed with the vermouth and gin and simply dubbed it a martini. The label has endured since.

Old Fashioned
rye whiskey, muddled orange, turbinado sugar, bitters, soda water, cherry
The first use of the specific name “Old Fashioned” was for a Bourbon whiskey cocktail in the 1880s, at the Pendennis Club, a gentlemen’s club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Manhattan
bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters
Originated during a banquet at the Manhattan Club in New York City in the early 1870s, Afterward, attendees began to request the drink by referring to the name of the club where it was first served.

Tom Collins
gin, fresh lime, simple syrup, soda water
Named for a practical joke played by bartenders in New York 1874, which began with the question, “Have you seen Tom Collins?” The original recipe for the drink first appeared in the 1876 edition of The Bartender’s Guide.

Side Car
