People ask me if I could go back to the opening of bread&cup five years ago, would I do things differently? I’m sure there were some things I would tweak here and there, but for the most part I feel like we hit the mark closely to where we were aiming. Monday we crossed a pretty big milestone by being open 5 years. The celebration was just as we wanted it to be. Lots of familiar faces, buzzing conversation and echoing laughter filled our little place for the evening. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Amid the well-wishers, this question,“So how does it feel?” was asked several times. Obviously it feels great, and very rewarding, but it goes so much deeper than that. Seven years ago on this day, my dad passed away. There was already a significant amount of stress going on in our lives at that time. I had quit my job in order to build the restaurant and thus was unemployed, uncertain and now unable to communicate to my father and hear his advice first hand from his own words.
