“I don’t care about how well you get along. All I care about is the food”

Seems like a statement like this gets made on Top Chef each season. There is usually one or two very gifted chefs in every group that know how to cook exceptionally well, but have one distinct problem; they don’t know how to work with people.

It might make sense to some, that if you are looking for the best food that you would simply follow the trail back to the chef that prepared it. But eventually that trail will be hard to find if the one who produces it cares more about the meal than the means.

Bur if it’s just about the food, the chef will bark, snarl and intimidate the hell out of everyone along the way, and not be concerned with developing a brilliant staff.

If it’s just about the food, it won’t matter that the chef will gain the reputation as the Turd Chef and that self respecting talent will go elsewhere to gain experience.

If it’s just about the food, the chef will care about it more than the customer.

Putting memorable food on your plate is a much more holistic process. The wise chef knows this. He or she must take inspiration very seriously. Without it, nothing breathes, and nothing lives.
